A Higher Fat Diet Helps You Lose Weight

I been asking “why do you think you can’t lose weight?”, and this is what I hear…

“I have thyroid, adrenal, and leaky gut issues”
“My age and metabolism are stopping me”
“I’m diabetic”
“I get hungry!”
“I have insomnia”

Ok, so here’s the thing…these are all RELATED because your gut is out of balance.

Not the same, but definitely related, so don’t think I’m koo-koo.

It’s critical to re-set your body, let it heal on its own, and then your extra weight will naturally release.

The best way to do that is through an ancestral or paleo approach.

Your body wants (and needs) fat. It does NOT want sugar (grains, potatoes, sucrose,…).

It does NOT want sugar! (Just making sure you heard me:))

Your next questions is “ok, so how much fat, protein, and carbs, do I eat?”.

That’s a good question, and I’ll give you an idea, however I’d like you to keep one thing in mind…concentrate on eating the foods you were evolved to eat.

What did your early ancestors hunt and gather? How did they survive the harsh winters when they couldn’t gather much? Did they eat animal meat with or without the fat? (Hint: fat is the theme here)

Your body runs on fat, non-starchy vegetable carbohydrates, a little fruit, and some very high quality animal protein.

Humans are unhealthy today because of a high (starchy) carb (grains, potatoes, sucrose) diet.

Try Eating This Way:
60 – 70% Fat (avocados, olives, nuts, seeds, wild caught fish skin)
15 – 25% Protein (high quality, organic, free range animal, hemp seeds)
5 – 25% Carbohydrates (non-starchy vegetables, fruit)

Keep in mind that we are all individual and you will have to experiment with different ratios.

You can use a free app, like MyFitnessPal, to track your food. If you input calories, fat, protein, and carbs then you will be able to see your percentages at the end of the day.

When I changed to a higher fat diet I was shocked at my carb percentage. Suffice it to say that we humans, and women in particular, love our processed, starchy carbs!

All goals start with education and a plan. So track your food and find out EXACTLY what you’re eating.

Once you know what you’re eating, then make small changes to shift into the ratios I gave you.

Be diligent for 2 solid weeks and then send me an update.

How are your smptoms? How much weight released?

Lastly I will say…keep it simple and say to yourself “how did my ancestors eat?”…and eat that way.‚Äč

From my health to yours!

xoxo,
Margaret
